Perks of being single.
Bah humbug!
Admittedly I
was unaware that Heart’s Day is already here, perfectly showing my ignorance to
everything happening on the outside world. It was during yesterday when Dale
and I went out that I found out, noticing the flock of people at different
flower shops and seeing some men and ladies carrying bouquets and other gifts.
Ironically he was also shopping for a special surprise for the occasion (it was
a well-thought-out plan I may add).
Since this
year I’m being a Valentine’s Grinch, I have a couple of noteworthy problems
regarding this affair.
First, I always
think of Feb. 14 as a cliche, where almost every couple go out on
dates or suitors giving gifts and other surprises to their special someone.
Wouldn’t it hurt anyone to be doing this a few days before or after for a
change? I know it would kill the essence of Valentine’s Day but I’m pretty sure
a lot of others are thinking the same. Another thing that bugs me is the
exclusive treatment people do during this time of year which leads us to assume
Valentine’s being superficial. How about expressing them all year long and not
just on special days alone?
So there we
go with my point of view of Valentine’s. A lonely, bitter POV. Just kidding! ✌
P.S. Salute to the man behind this great proposal idea. You have set the
bar for the rest of us.
There's no way Olivia would say no to this.
